Review: Unfortunately we have recently had a very poor experience of Woodfield primary school. When my son started the school he settled in really well however it got taken over by an academy and went down hill very quickly. There has been a really high rate of staff turnover. To my knowledge there is only 2 possibly 3 members of staff the same within the whole school from when my son started a year and a half ago. Within that time there has also been class changes on a number of occasions which of course is unsettling for SEN children. Within his time there he has had 4 different teachers! Teachers have very little knowledge of PDA so when they are telling me there was not any triggers they aren't realising it can be something as simple as how you word a sentence. My son's old class teacher asked me in an exclusion meeting what my son is diagnosed with but surely as his teacher with a class of 8 children she should of known this by reading his EHCP. The exclusion rates at the school are incredibly high, I found the school couldn't cope with my son at all however will not say they can't meet his needs. He had a long period of reduced timetable however still wasn't coping and was getting exclusions. I had an EHCP review with the site lead and SENCO where it was agreed that my son needed a one to one however the LA said that the paperwork sent in didn't reflect this and the review went down as no change even though my son wasn't even attending school at the moment. Their pastoral worker came to visit our home and was throwing around statements that it's my responsibility to get him to school, teachers don't have time to care about what's going on at home, school aren't there to make parents happy, PDA isn't recognised in Coventry so staff won't have training on it. My relationship with the primary school has completely broken down after I made a WhatsApp group to support other parents with SEN children so I know go through staff from the secondary site but unfortunately this has all had such a negative effect on my son to the point he is now signed off school medically unfit and is unable to attend. I have found a huge lack of helpful support and understanding from the primary site and left feeling very alone in it all. Report Content
