Review: This Senco tries to implement many Senco support needs. There's a lot of thought and aspirations to do more and help but ultimately the training of the class teachers does not match the needs of the child's needs passports.

The processes put in place get blocked and most class teachers don't know how to deal with a child who has extra needs in a classroom of 30+ children.

The Senco has exceptional compassion towards children with extra needs and tries his best to assist in the classroom environment without singing the child out in front of their peers.

However there is often not enough time and the teaching assistants use negative prompts to try to encourage the child.

There is a tiny area for Senco in the building and it is often full and sometimes noisy for the childrent hat are acting out. Which doesn't provide a calm environment at all for those that need it. Schools in Scotland have autistic provision in a separate building which aim to encourage kids back into the classroom but providing a permanent space for them to escape to with likeminded children.

Teachers and children should be taught compassion on a daily basis at every opportunity and not just in an assembly as a one off or as a project. It should be encouraged every day by the teachers that it's okay to be different.

This school wants to do help more but it seems to me that they can't do what they need to because it gets blocked and their time gets used up with more able minded kids.

I would recommend this school because of their main Sencos compassion and determination but not recommend it for the environment and their flexibility to adapt to a children with high needs. Report Content
