Epping Primary School
Review
My children attended the school prior to my daughter receiving her ASD diagnosis. My daughter was shouted at when she didn't understand, punished when she asked questions due to taking things literally, treated as a naughty child when she shut down or was overwhelmed and wasn't supported when she struggled to understand social situations.
When my daughter was upset in the mornings about going into school, they said if she isn't ready to learn I had to take her home. I started to stay with her in reception until she was emotionally ready to go in until one morning they locked the door and said I was no longer allowed to wait in reception with her.
In meetings I was told that my daughter was manipulative, her behaviour was due to her homelife (Im a single parent) and there was no way that she would get an ASD diagnosis. My daughter received a diagnosis when four professionals were unanimous in their decision that she was ASD and had complex needs.
I moved my children to another school who were supportive and we worked together. Epping Primary then received a mental health award (which you have to apply and pay for.)
